Dr Eamonn Fahy

Dr Fahy completed his general ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. Following this, he completed two years of fellowship training in glaucoma at internationally recognised centres in London: Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He has worked as a Consultant Ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist in the UK National Health Service (NHS) at Oxford University Hospitals and Moorfields Eye Hospital. He returned to Sydney in 2024 to work as an Ophthalmologist, and to raise a family with his wife who is from Sydney.

He completed a PhD in glaucoma research in 2016 at the University of Melbourne and the Centre for Eye Research Australia. His work has been published and presented widely at an international level and he continues clinical research at present with involvement in several multi-centre randomised controlled trials.

His care, where possible, aligns with the best available evidence-based approaches to glaucoma treatment.

Dr Fahy works in the public sector as a locum glaucoma consultant at the Sydney Eye Hospital and is involved in training the next generation of glaucoma surgeons. He has a keen interest in teaching and passing forward his knowledge and experience.

A key aspect of Dr Fahy's care involves an individualised and empathic approach to glaucoma treatment - acknowledging the difficulties that patients may face with this eye condition and doing his utmost to guide each patient through this journey, by providing the best possible treatment, education, and support. His overarching goal is to improve the lives of glaucoma patients through clinical work, research, and innovation.
